Yanmar powers trawler Skår Senior

The Skår Senior is launched at the shipyard in Raudeberg, Måløy in Norway. She’s a 48m trawler scheduled and will be operating from her base at Nerlandsoy near Fosnavag around the North Sea and Barents Sea with a crew of ten. She’s a yard number 46 design with a Yanmar 6EY26W 1,920 kW propulsion engine.

Richard K. Gjerde is sales director at Marin Teknikk which acted as naval architect for the vessel. He says, “She is a top modern purse seine and pelagic trawler. This means she can either deploy the net around a school of fish or tow it at some point in the water between the surface and seabed. When looking at engines we liaise with the owner and choose based on power, space and fuel economy. We’ve fitted loads of Yanmar units over the years, especially on fishing vessels.”
